ASSAULT BETA VERSION 1 README
========================================================

Thank you for downloading the Assault beta! Your help is greatly appreciated.

Please note that this is a beta and there might be several bugs. I assure you, however, that it is almost bug free and that the main part of Assault works well, so you should only find minor bugs that don't effect gameplay. These are the hardest to find and that is why I'm releasing this as a beta right now.

Please e-mail all bugs you find to dwredman@conc.tds.net or falcon002@excite.com . Please be as detailed as possible in your report, and don't report a bug unless you can reproduce it, because some things are simply one time glitches in Descent 3.

Check for updates and new versions of Assault at the Assault Headquarters at:

For information on how to make your own Assault levels, read instructions.txt.

This beta comes with two levels for you to try out Assault on. They are

"Pumphouse" by CDT_SoC
"Stigmata" by Hawkeye3

Enjoy!

RULES OF PLAY
========================================================

The objective of Assault is to destroy the other team's base while defending your own. This requires good teamwork in order to successfully attack the other team's base and keeping yours intact. Each base consists of two types of objects: base structures and defensive structures. Your primary targets are the base structures, which are non-firing. When all base structures are destroyed, the game is over and the team with base structures left standing is the winner. Defensive structures are your secondary targets which will fire upon the closest player on the opposing team. It's usually a good idea to take these out, to even the odds when attacking an enemy base. An enemy team with their defensive structures beating down on your shields gives them the upper hand.

Structures in Assault will regenerate their shields over a period of time. It regenerates slow enough so that after you pound down on them, their defenses won't be ready for a huge fight for a while. On the other hand, they regenerate long enough so that they aren't crippled for the entire game. Shield levels can be set by the level designer, and Assault will adjust its regeneration limit accordingly.
