Wolf Pack Wolf, converted to Descent 3 by DarkHorse _____________________________________ /-------------------------------------\ Table of Contents \-------------------------------------/ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ 1..............................Features 2........................Special Thanks 3...............................Contact 4.........................Programs Used 5.................................Legal _____________________________________ /-------------------------------------\ 1. Features \-------------------------------------/ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Wolf Pack is a Descent 3 conversion of Wolf Pack 3, a Descent 2 mission authored by Wolf. Wolf Pack has six levels, enhanced geometry (when compared to the original levels), and is designed to support Hoard and CTF modes, though I don't recommend playing it in CTF due to base distance and level size. Level 1: This Quiet Garden The name for this level actually came from a dark ambient track I found on mp3.com. It seemed to suit the level, so dark, so green... "This Quiet Garden" is a three-part track by Silent Watcher of Dark Matter, but seriously, unless you're into really quiet elevator music, don't listen to it. Level 2: Vauss Lore Well, I had to change the title somewhat. You're right: this IS another Vauss Bore, except slightly closer to the original D2 level than Wolf's D3 one. It's also got a red lighting scheme, rather than a green one. Not my favourite level, but it's not too bad. Level 3: Revolver This one looks quite decent. Here, we get the Microwave and Homers (BP weapons, anyone?), along with a few fiery treats in between. The level has rotational and planar symmetry. Level 4: Shattered Crystal Very geometric main room. The cave isn't as highly detailed as I've done before, but I kinda didn't want to waste time on things you're probably only going to get stuck on anyway. Beautiful level though. There's a rapid fire powerup in there, but no decent weapons to back it up. At least, that's the theory. ;) Level 5: Fusion Engine This one was inspired by a scene in the 1995 Squaresoft RPG, Chrono Trigger. It doesn't have white lava though - just wasn't working. Fusion brawl, of course. And the name? Yes, it did come from the name of Descent 3's "revolutionary" engine. Exactly where in Chrono Trigger am I talking about? The lower decks of the Black Omen. Blue with white lava. Remember that. =) Level 6: Singularity So, we get into the heavy artillery. And if you know what a singularity is, you'll know which weapons I mean here. There are also loads of grav tubes, and a cloak. The original level was called Cloak War, but the "singularity missile" kinda counteracts it. So, which level is my favourite? I really don't know, but it's probably either level 4 or 6. _____________________________________ /-------------------------------------\ 2. Special Thanks \-------------------------------------/ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Wolf is about the only other person who had any input on Wolf Pack, mainly because she is the original author. Thanks for the incessant (well okay, just occasional) bugging me to finish the level set, and the input on what weapons to include, what size to make the levels... oh! And for telling me the level 1 doors were floating in mid-air... ;) _____________________________________ /-------------------------------------\ 3.
