Welcome To Vander's Revenge Vander and Hostile have collaborated to create a two level set called Vander's Revenge. Both levels are recreations of some popular Descent 1/2 levels created by Vander. Level 1 of the set is Pulling Teeth and level 2 is Hash Bash. Here are the details of the levels and author's comments: *******Hash Bash******* Hash Bash was my favorite of the D2 levels I made. I always loved the layout, and thought it provided a great space for fighting. I started this port many months ago, but lost interest after building a room or two. Then Hostile showed me his port of Pulling Teeth, and I started work on it again with some motivation. The size should be the same, with a small upscale for the speed of the D3 engine. . Thanks to everyone that helped test this, and for all the suggestions. You know who you are. Thanks to Fritz for doing the kick ass Pulling Teeth port, and for letting me tag my cheezy little level on to it. Thanks to Gwar, Otherone, and Nirvana for working on D3edit to get it to a state to where it only crashed a couple times. My permission is needed to modify this level in any way. This level took about 6 days of solid building to make. I hope you will enjoy it. -Jeff Vandemark (Vander) July 19, 2002 Vander@Hashish.com Object List: 1 Vauss Clip 1 Cyclone Missle 1 Smart Missle 1 Homing Missle 1 Microwave Cannon 2 Plasmas 2 Vauss 2 Fusions 2 Super Lasers 2 Quads 2 AB Coolers 2 Impact Mortars 3 4pack Concussion Missles 4 Mercury Missles (Napalm Rocket) 16 Player Starts *******Pulling Teeth******* -by Hostile of the Clan ROX Date of Release: July 19th, 2002. Type of Level: Single, Anarchy, and Hyper-Anarchy, Hoard Version: 1.0 Hello Descent Addicts, Here is my sixth level for Descent 3. It is the final release. Many people have asked for this level to be remade by Vander. He didn't want to do it himself and has allowed me to do it instead. I think many people, especially fans of Descent 1/2, will enjoy the nostalgia of this level. It is a fairly large level and should do really well for Team Anarchy games. It has 16 player starts. I modded several weapons for Pulling Teeth. The Napalm Cannon has a bit more punch now and isn't a useless weapon anymore. It is no where near as powerful as the demo so don't get scared, but it will smack someone good if you hit them with it. I basically doubled the impact damage of the current napalm cannon. I used the same one in D-Day and Seleg Prime and it worked really well. The Plasma Cannon is back!!!! The damage is the same, but the plasma balls are 100% larger and 50% faster. It really does feel like Descent 2 plasma. The mean ass plasma sound is back too. The Napalm Rocket has been altered to assume the properties of the Mercury Missile from Descent 2. I think I have it tweaked just about right for the speed and obviously there will be no flame balls being spawned from it. It takes 4 Mercs to kill a tank and 3 for the other ships (with no other damage from other weapons, of course). The merc does 34 points of damage on a Pyro GL with a direct hit. The only other thing I changed about this level is the damage sound. You will now feel the anxiety generated by the "Descent 2 CLANG." :) A couple of people were asking me to change the hud picture and actual model of the Merc to resemble its previous form, but I don't know how to do that yet and I reached critical level building saturation with Pulling Teeth and had to finish it. Maybe next time boys. I give full credit and thanks to the original author of this level, Jeff "Vander" Vandemark, who gave me permission to remake this awesome level. The level layout is almost exactly identical to the original, only scaled up for the speed of Descent 3. Thanks to the God of level creators, Otherone, who did the scripting for the locked door, made the plasma balls look like they are suppose to, and of course keeps teaching me about stuff in the editor I didn't even know existed :). Thanks to RIP, ESA, and Deicide for hosting servers during the beta test and thanks to all the pilots who tested it and gave feedback. ***** Level stats as reported by D3Edit: 40 Rooms 2935 Faces 3547 Vertices 68 Portals 3 Doors 65 Objects 3 Energy Centers 1 Hoard Goal ***** Here is the weapons load: MD (4 Rounds) 1 MD Clip (1 Round) 2 Vauss 2 Vauss Clip 2 Fusion Cannon 2 Plasma Cannon 3 Mwave Cannon 1 Super Laser 3 EMD 1 Napalm Cannon 1 Napalm Tank 2 Merc (Napalm Rocket) 4 Smart 1 Impact Mortar 1 Cyclone 2 Frag 1 Homer 3 Guided 1 Conc 3 4-Pack Conc 1 Afterburner 4 Quad Laser 3 E-S Converter 1 It took me about 1 solid week of actual working time spread over a month to make this level. And, if I haven't said it before....I love you man!! Enjoy, {ROX}Hostile aka Fritz Hostetler email: nonstoploving@hotmail.com P.S. I know about the texture errors on the doors. It is not my fault and I couldn't fix it. The doors are even more messed up when you insert them from the editor. I had to spend a lot of time cleaning them up just to get them to where they are now. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ We have submitted this level set to and set autodownload to: Game Edit: http://www.gameedit.com/descent3/levels/vanderev.zip Planet Descent: http://www.dfiles2.de/download/d3/missions/vanderev.zip Levels4You: http://www.levels4you.com/d3levels/vanderev.zip
