======Victor's first created mission using Descent Mission Builder II!====== Name: ogitreV :2 tnecseD (read as "Descent 2: Vertigo" in reverse) Levels: 8 Secret levels: 2 Type: Single-player Comment: Quite challenging. Requires fast reactions and clever thinking. Each level ends with a boss, and the name of each level is the weapon of the boss on that level. Quite a lot of illusionary walls so be sure to look them out as they contain powerups, weapons (yeah, Earthshaker Missiles too!) and secret teleporters (and boo hoo! - robots too!!!). All levels look pretty normal so you really have to look for the teleporters. The boss do drop powerups and weapons so don't leave as soon as you've destroyed it. (in order not to spoil the fun for looking up the secret exits [they aren't really hard to find] I will not say the locations of the teleporters here [the 2 secret levels can be only accessed from 2 single levels]) (All bosses are equipped with homing plasma bomblets to track you down when it is hit) =====Level 1: Homing and Flash===== In my opinion this is just the right difficulty to begin. It isn't too hard, but it's neither too easy. Plenty of powerups and weapons to arm yourselves to get through the whole mission. Check out the location of the Exit before you blow up the Red Fatty Boss as you can easily get lost especially if you're playing for the first time. Boss armament: 2 Homing Missile and 1 Flash Missile Launchers =====Level 2: Mercury Mines===== This level is also quite a beginning level so it isn't too difficult. Packed with less powerups (and perhaps less robots), but just as challenging. New weapons are available, including Smart Missiles and the Helix Cannon. Watch out for the 2 PESTs which drop Smart Mines though. Accompanying the Water Boss are lots of Sidearm Modulas and Seekers so beware. Boss armament: Multiple Mercury Missile Launchers and Smart Mines =====Level 3: Mega Phoenix===== Tense up your fingers now! This is a really difficult level to start with! The Exit may be so easy to find that you can't find it. Originally I wanted to make a labyrinth, but I ended up with too many cubes. Medium difficulty through the passages until you meet the boss - !!! Extreme threat (even on Trainee) indeed. Whip out your Megas to challenge the Fire Boss in this burning hot furnace! With Red Fatty Jrs, Cloaked Drillers and Hulks and Bulk Destroyers by his side, you'll get a real shaking sensation! You're most likely to go out to meet the boss since you can't see what's going on being in front of the lava fall (yes, yes, that is yet another trick). Not surprising if you're low on shields (or even took a life) to get this level done. (Use your Energy-to-Shield Converter to aid unless you're low on energy.) Boss armament: Phoenix Cannons (or repulsion smelter) and 1 Mega Missile Launcher =====Level 4: Flashing Omega===== Phew! After that devastating boss on Level 3, you can finally take a little rest. Not too much robots to trouble with in this small mine, and some weapons to boost you up again. Don't let this level get on your "blind" side though. With M.A.X. (fires homing Flash Missiles) and S.P.I.K.E. (fires Omega Cannon) this level is sure to get you busy. And beware of that robot maker. This level is spiced up with the near-to-hardest boss in "Descent 2: Counterstrike" - the Ice Boss. You may find yourselves whipping out your Mega Missiles once more. Boss armament: Omega Cannon and 1 Homing Flash Missile Launcher =====Level 5: "Gaussly" Mercury===== This level isn't really ghastly (even though the level name "meant" it). It is a really simple structured level, in which there is a giant hall filled with desert wall textures (cool isn't it?) and you'll have to fight the Alien 1 Boss. You shan't stay inside, cause you'll get hit in every way if you stay inside and there are some secrets at the end of the hall (oops! I shouldn't have mentioned that.), but watch out as once you go out the robot makers send out robots to assist the lonely boss. Not too difficult but few stuff to grab to prepare for the next level. Boss armament: Gauss Cannon and multiple Mercury Missile Launchers Note: Vulnerable only to energy weapons (including blobs from Smart Missiles & Earthshakers) =====Level 6: E.A.R.T.H.S.H.A.K.E.R===== You think you could get rid of the Alien 2 Boss just by hauling Earthshakers at his back just like in the "Descent 2: Counterstrike" mission huh? No way! Even though there aren't any robots accompanying him except a few Omega guppies which drops Smart Mines (note: they're dead important as you'll find out by yourselves), you simply don't stand a chance. (Make sure you really do have a good supply of Earthshakers from the previous levels!) Not unless you've found out the secret. Another simple structured level, but guaranteed to get you ShAkInG. Just to remind you, watch out for the Smart Mines dropped by the Omega guppies... Boss armament: Earthshaker Missiles Note: Can only be hurt from green spot on its back =====Level 7: Smart Omegas===== Finally back to a "normal" level! Don't take a break yet, cause you'll get attacked the very first moment you enter this mine. And watch out for the M.A.X. behind the door, as if you shot open the door accidentally you'll get blinded. Dodge the shots from the Class 2 Heavy Driller (fires Plasma Cannon, equipped with homing green blobs) in this narrow space. Just notice all the cool effects in the mine - doors open behind you, walls close in, missiles from the walls (homing flash missiles, fusion cannons, plasma cannons, smart missiles, dual concussion missiles, homing missiles and mercury missiles), etc. - just don't get blown up! You should try to find the boss first... (and perhaps the Exit too!) Boss armament: 1 Smart Missile Launcher and Omega Cannon Note: Vulnerable only to energy weapons (including blobs from Smart Missiles & Earthshakers) =====Level 8: Mega E.A.R.T.H.S.H.A.K.E.R===== Final showdown! Dare you challenge the final boss? Watch out for those missiles and cannons flying out of the walls (again!) (homing flash missiles, mercury missiles, homing missiles, smart missiles, plasma cannon and vulcan cannon). Mega Missile are homing, and Earthshakers are deadly. Can you withstand the fight without getting killed? And can you find where the Exit is? By the way, this boss would not drop powerups after it is killed because you don't need any (do you?). ***IF YOU CAN FINISH THIS FINAL LEVEL, YOU'RE A TRUE DESCENT PLAYER.*** Boss armament: 1 Mega Missile Launcher and 1 Earthshaker Missile Launcher Note: Can only be hurt from green spot on its back =====Secret Level 1: Smarts===== Made use of the wall closing system in Secret Level 1 of the "Descent 2: Counterstrike" mission, where the walls would close in after you pass some passages. Quite heavily loaded with robots, but not at first sight anyway (you'll find out soon enough). Strong weapons required (but a super laser will do). Quite a lot of powerups. A difficult level I would say. The boss isn't too difficult even though it is Boss 1 of Descent (fires Smart Missiles) because you can easily figure out a way to beat it. You really have to watch out for the robots though. Boss armament: 2 Smart Missile Launchers =====Secret Level 2: Megas===== Another difficult level! Even though robots aren't as swarming as in "Smarts", you'll still have a hard time through. In order to beat the boss (Boss 2 of Descent - fires Mega Missiles) you'll have to encounter so many robots (including robots behind illusionary walls too!!!) so you have absolutely no time to waste. Look out for Smart Mines too. Remember to look for the Exit in the first place! Another simple structured level. Boss armament: 2 Mega Missile Launchers
