Level Name: KrAcTAgOn! ====================== Version 1.0 Release Date: August 26, 2005 Designer: [TA]One Description =========== The inspiration for KrAcTAgOn! came from Frenzy Monsterball Level 1 - "PowerHouse". PowerHouse in Anarchy mode is great for pure dogfighting. However, PowerHouse happens to be rough on spawners. So I decided to make a level that allowed you to pick up weapons without getting slaughtered. I also wanted it to be bigger, so more people could comfortably dogfight in it. The bigger a room in which there will be a lot of action, the lower the poly/face count should be. Sorry if the level is a bit bland, but otherwise the framerates would be really bad in the big dogfighting room. Originally I wanted my level to be just one big octagon-shaped dogfighting room, for Anarchy mode only. But to give the level more versatility - and because I'm a masochistic idiot - I decided to add CTF bases. During the testing phase, I thought my level played too fast for CTF - giving no one any time to rest at all. Also, the bases are quite hard to defend - so I didn't think players who just like to guard would want to play it. Therefore I didn't think the level would have a chance of becoming popular for CTF. And with the CTF bases, I thought the level wasn't going to flow well for Anarchy either. In fact... I decided I wasn't ever going to release the level. [TA]KrAcOn! and [TA]Sparticus seemed to like the level quite a bit, and wanted me to release the level a long time ago. The main room in the level is an octagon. And given the fact that Kracon liked the level more than me - naming it Kractagon seemed like the thing to do. So I changed the level to bear Kracon's name, both inside and out. (Kracon does the uppercase, lowercase, exclamation point thing with his name, so that's why you see it done with the level name.) Now, I don't feel the level is up to par. But I don't plan on working on it anymore, either. So I've decided to release the level with Kracon's stamp of approval on it - if not mine. Therefore, if you don't like the level - blame him! Level Hosting Info ================== The level is equally well-suited (or not) for CTF, Entropy, Anarchy and Hoard. For team games, 2vs2 up to 4vs4 is recommended. For Anarchy mode, the level should be able to support 8 players total. But I bet you could have deduced that number yourself, eh smart guy? Yeah, but did you see this coming? For dinner engagements and other formal occasions there is a dress code. A suit and tie will be required - and the dress code will be enforced by the server ops. And if you're found anywhere on the premises with no shirt or shoes, you will be permanently banned! And don't think for a minute that I can't find server ops who will enforce that ban with little or no coaxing from me. Mod Info ======== There are only minor mods in this level. Like another level I released, this level has my modded flare. The flare has most of its dynamic lighting shut off so that framerates aren't hurt by flare-happy idiots. I also gave it a red glow. Due to the critical locaton of the glass inside the bases, I thought it would be beneficial to mod the glass texture so it wouldn't show weapon damage. (As a side benefit, the crew that comes in to clean at night has less work.) Anyway, that just about sums up the mods in this level. I wish D3 wasn't so dead. And I wish I had more time to devote to making levels/mods. One of my mod ideas is that everytime you shoot a mega, the other players see you toss a cigarette butt out of your ship - or a half-eaten ham and cheese sandwich. I know that kind of mod is possible from what I've seen [TA]BlackWidow do with his mods. Just look at his gatling gun with the shells flying off it. Also, I wish I could make a level that had a secret self-destruct button hidden somewhere in it that only I knew about. That way if I saw a bunch of jerks playing in my level, I could join the server, hit the self-destruct button, and cause the whole level to collapse in on itself - destroying all the ships inside. I'd have an escape pod waiting so I could fly away. Then I'd look back and laugh at all the wreckage I was leaving behind as I flew to another level that wasn't as sucky as mine. Okay... maybe that mod isn't possible. Besides, you don't see many jerks playing these days anyway. But if any of you script-kiddies happens to think that a mod like that is possible - and if you happen to hear of a D3k revival - contact me, we'll talk.
