Asteroid Anarchy Asteroid Anarchy is a four (4) level anarchy only mission written de novo by Kevin Shaw. All cubes were created expressly for this level series. Macro extraction is permitted as long as the source is duly noted. This distribution should include this file (astrdanr.txt) as well as a HOG file (astrdanr.hog) and a mission file (astrdanr.msn). This level series is freely distributable as long as all three files are included in the distribution. The levels were created with several versions (2.1g & 2.2j) of DEVIL: the Descent Editor for Vertices, Items and Levels. The basic cube layout was created in 2.1g because I know the movement interface so well; lighting, things and walls were also done in 2.1g. Version 2.2j was used for texture manipulation simply for the great rendering mode. DEVIL is written by Achim Stremplat and the newest version is always available at: http://www.uni-karlsruhe.de/~ubdb/index.html I began to use HAMM for hog file management when my MAC friends couldn't load my levels; I've continued to use it. You can get it at: http://www.ozemail.com.au/~prunge/hamm.htm#whatsnew Consequently, these levels run just fine on the Power PC platform. That's the legal sell. Mission Statement: PTMC Directive #872-6A Material Defender, It appears, that in this time of relative peace, some of your colleagues have turned their energies to evil. We have reason to believe that a rouge group of pilots is acting to divert PTMC minerals to the black market, keeping the profits. You, as a loyal associate, are asked to investigate the band of mercenaries. Our current reconnaissance is sketchy at best. We believe that the rouge band is using the Outer Asteroids of the Rubicene System as a staging ground. Asteroids #71,#72,#73,#74 are the small outer asteroids in the Rubicene System. All are within proximity of the Seventh Moon of Furan. Naturally occurring resources are scarce. It is likely the rouge crew will have you out-gunned. They are known to fly a similarly equipped Pyro-GX; the ship allotted to you for this mission. Consider ALL gliders hostile. The security state of the Outer Asteroids of the Rubicene System is in high doubt; the only thing that can be said for certain about the Outer Asteroids of the Rubicene System is that you will find COMPLETE AND TOTAL ANARCHY! Prepare for Descent.... Details: Asteroid #71: Code name during build was organic_level; it shows. Consistent organic colour theme and good lighting are the hallmarks. The only things in the level are a set of Quad lasers and 4 Homing missiles. You'll have to have good aim to succeed in this level :). Asteroid #72: A more vertical orientation and a quick moving pace. Slightly more weapons, but nothing bordering on mass destruction. This was the initial level created in the series. Asteroid #73: A completely vertically oriented level with an industrial station feeling. This level requires exceptional flight skills to get kills. And yes, there are finally BIG (read Smart missile) weapons in this level. Asteroid #74: The final level in the series, highly symmetry controlled and completely horizontal. The only things missing are the Mega missile, Invulnerability, and the Cloaking device. The volume is large enough that skill is required to use the big weapons. All levels share the eight (8) player starts for full anarchy action. The levels might be a little too hectic with eight players, but, admit it, you don't have that many friends either :). Build time was ~4 hours per level, and most of that was spent tweaking and detailing. The levels were all conceived prior to sitting down at the computer which helps greatly.
