The Tub A level designed for Descent 3, the only game worth playing. BY: [CU]Argos (yes, it's [CU] now...) and Jiven (Bathroom) For all you other level designers who know what I'm talking about (Read this, it's interesting, and very important to me): I would like to say one thing. Level designing is really friggin' hard. At a certain point, I could do nothing but add rooms, expand faces, and maybe extrude a little. I built the entire level Tricery using those geometric action, and nothing else. It's a terrible level, but in retrospect, it's pretty impressive to me. I though myself how to do all of the nothing in that level, and I'm proud of it. But a month later, the day before my 14th birthday, I made an incredible discovery. How to insert the vert. Before this, I was blind on how to use the 2-D panes, and could do nothing. But from the discovery of insert, I began building, lathing, inserting and twisting faces; everything came together. I remeber the first time I flew inside the tub. It was a pitch black, eight sided room too large to function as anything, but I was ecstatic. I actually had started a level without using the default outrage room. From there, I built a pool. I added in every detail I could: the lip thats always on pool edges, a light with a glass cover, and all those cool little metallicy textures that I almost overused. I have to thank Gwar for the OGF tool, becasue if it wasn't for his program, I could have never put my girlfriend, Shannon, on the wall. I want to thank my brother, Gabe, whose new game is Cassius (it changes quite frequently, from Weinker to Mantis, etc...) because he always was willing to crticise the level to no end. He also gave me the idea for those sharp little sconces on the wall. I want to thank Outrage, or Volition, whatever the hell Parallax is called now, for continuing the descent series as long as possible, and I forgive you for the whole Descent 4 thing. Now for the less important stuff: The tub is an anarchy level, designed for one purpose. To get stalkers easy frag kills. I hate to admit it, but I love trailing some fool until plastering them with a napalm rocket, so I put a lotta areas like that. There are ways to avoid those areas, but not many. If you cant stalk, stay on the couch. As far as I know, every weapon, save teh Blackshark, is included. I grudgingly put in Omega, despite my feelings of that weapon. (See Readme of Trickery.) I have a ridiculous amout of respawn points, so that won't be a problem in terms of population size. Uhh, lets see.... There are three energy respawn places, and only one area where you can kill yourself. And it's easy to see, so don't worry. It may be embarrasssing, but I did take a peice of Jiven's level After hours, which is a bathroom, to use in my level. Simple explanation: I was too tired last night to build one on my own. So I am giving him co-author credit, and I send him good wishes on future endeavors. (By the way Jiven, there were a few concave faces I had to split on the faucet, so be careful with that next time!) Special thanks to Schplurg for being so nice about my first level, Trickery, even though it royally sucked ass. Best wishes to Gameedit.com. Also, to Xtremebuilder.com, (Visit this site,) for inspiring me to restart work on The Tub, after a three week hiatus. (SP?) And by the way, I cant wait for the Inferno mod! I'm a Pyro-GX freak! Feel free to steal whatever you want from this level, like I did, as long as you say something in your readme or you email me!! One last thing. Unless you are totally sure about yourself, NEVER USE THAT GODDAMN REMOVE EXTRA VERT BUTTON! IT CREATED FORTY DEGENERATIVE FACES IN MY LEVEL, SCARING ME TO THE POINT OF ALMOST SCRAPPING THE TUB!!!!
