*******D-Day******* -by Hostile of the Clan ROX Date of Release: February 3rd, 2002. Type of Level: Single, Multiplayer Anarchy, Hyper, Hoard, and Team Version: 1.1 Hello Descent Addicts, Here is my 4th level for Descent 3. It is the second and hopefully final release. The first version had a custom texture that could only be seen with glide drivers so I had to fix that and release it again. The most beautiful Sfuzzi asked me redo one of her favorite levels from Descent 2, D-Day 97. How could I say no? So here it is. D-Day has been completely redone from scratch to incorporate the size and feel of the D3 ships. I also added a little eye candy to liven it up a little. It is a 1 on 1 level, but can support 3 to 5 players in an anarchy or team game. Any more than 5 players and the secondaries will get too thin. However, It has a maximum 16 player starts. I have stayed almost completely true to the original layout with the following exceptions: 1. I added a skylight in the main room because I could and I think it looks great. 2. I added a dome above the reactor where the exit used to be which can see down into the main room. 3. I added some water underneath the reactor. You cannot fly there. It is just eye candy. 4. I added some eye candy here and there through out the level to fully take advantage of the Fusion engine and all the beauty it has to offer. I am releasing this level without obtaining official permission from the original author, Henke (much honor be placed upon him). I did a community wide search for the him and nobody could get a hold of him. So, I am releasing it for all to enjoy with what I think to be consent from the community. I give full credit to the creativity of Henke and thank him for producing such a great level. I modded 2 of the weapons in this level. The mass driver starts with 4 shots instead of 10 and the mass driver clip has only 1 round instead of 5. The napalm cannon has a bit more punch now and isn't a useless weapon anymore. It is no where near as powerful as the demo so don't get scared, but it will smack someone good if you hit them with it. I basically doubled the impact damage of the current napalm cannon. Thanks to the God of level creators, Otherone, who, as always, helped me with the stuff I still don't know how to do and also with the help of Genghis and Endymion, took the load screen shot you will see when you fire this up. Thanks to Meshac for doing the D-Day sign texture that is spread throughout the level (that everyone can hopefully see now). And as always, thanks to Sfuzzi and all the beta testers for telling me what they did and did not like. ***** Level stats as reported by D3Edit: 41 Rooms (Only about 6 main areas though) 2534 Faces 3027 Vertices 58 Portals-----(I hope this doesn't cause any sound anomalies) 2 Doors 54 Objects 3 Energy Centers 1 Hoard Goal ***** It took me about 2 solid weeks of actual working time (spread over 6 months) to make this level. And, if I haven't said it before....I love you man!!
