Internet Descent ][ Level Contest This contest was long in comming, it represents the effort of many, I like to think of it as by Descent'rs for Descent'rs. There are hundreds even thousands of levels for both versions but these levels are among the best availible on the Internet today! There are levels that when you slip into them you feel like you just might actually be there. Well my friends the contestants and winners of the IDLC will undoubtedly be the ULTIMATE levels in each of the 4 categories. So if you haven't taken your pyro into these mines then you haven't seen the best! This completed form MUST to be included with all entries. ******************************************************************************* ----ENTRY INFORMATION---- Level File Name...: outback8 Game Version......: D2 only Mission Name......: Outback 8 Date Finished.....: March 6,1998 Date: March 29, 1998 Internet Descent ][ Level Contest http://www.koolbear.com/Descent/levels/contest/IDLC/intro_IDLC.html *---- LEVEL DESCRIPTION ----* custom textures: Very few custom textures, signature (Hostile graphic) and 2 signs (Outback 8, and ZE WAS HERE). Everything else is standard custom bots: none, designed as a multi-player shaker level custom midis: none custom intro/exits: none Forcefield operation: There is a forcefield in the lower level. It is disarmed by entering the room from any one of the 3 entrances. It is reengaged by leaving through the top or by passing into one of the main room cubes (off of the raised + path). Gee, I hope that makes sense. *---- PERSONAL INFORMATION ----* Real Name.........: Fritz Hostetler Pilot Name........: Hostile Address1..........: 8050 S. Padre Island Dr. #i06, Corpus Christi, TX 78412 Address2..........: 72 Shadowood Pl., Woodland Park, CO 80863 Address3..........: E-Mail............: i_fly@sprynet.com URL Address.......: none League Affiliation: League URL........: Misc. Info........: This level was designed with high framerate and fast action in mind. It should play very well with many players. It supports all modes of gameplay. It has 3 main fighting areas with the center being a double figure 8 which is the basis of the level design. All areas should provide a variety of shaker challenge. Besides the Gauss cannon, it doesn't really have any of the dogfighting weapons in it. My philosophy for shaker levels......go big or stay home man! It has a cloak for people who like that. There are 2 small secret rooms for people to take a rest in or just plain get away and they are located in the shafts leading from the figure 8s to the lower fighting area (1 in each). Should be a great fun level, especially when you mess around with the weapons and the force field (some interesting effects). Forcefield operation: There is a forcefield in the lower level. It is disarmed by entering the room from any one of the 3 entrances. It is reengaged by leaving through the top or by passing into one of the main room cubes (off of the raised + path). Gee, I hope that makes sense. The reactor can only be blown on purpose, but it does have one in case i tie it to future levels. One last thing. Notice the colored lights in the center room. I put them in there to make navigation of the level easier so people would know where they wanted to go without guessing. Red=reactor. Blue=exit. White, yellow=energy.
