Briefing Our radar specialists have recently located some strange signals coming from an abandoned mine, built long ago as a strategic production center. We have no intelligence on the threat level of these signals, but we are treating everything concerned in this matter as being of critical importance. Our enemies, the Ceph clan, are notorious for infiltrating and reusing such abandoned bases. Now the point: get inside that base, and shoot anything that moves. You'll need to get security clearance to get inside the inner factories; there are two keys in the level for this purpose. The first one is simply locked up; you'll need to flip 4 switches in the tunnels on either side of the key center to deactivate the forcefield. Watch out; if the Ceph have infested the base and put a key into the holder, the matcen protecting the key will start producing. We constructed this base in a hurry, and the plans and maps to it have been lost. We've only managed to salvage a couple of minor descriptions. These indicate that there was a dirt tunnel with three exits and a secret door. The door was left locked when we abandoned the mine, but the three exits to it should still be clear. Two of the exits are connected; the key to the third is contained in the connecting tunnels. There are some hidden matcens in the level; but they don't seem to do anything. See if you can shut them down anyways. The main stormtrooper matcens are located somewhere behind the third exit. They are activated individually by protected switches; but in order to affect the matcens, the Ceph must have placed some sort of infected object in the compartment we created for the override functions. The compartment is only accessible by zero-g craft such as yours, but we do not have the exact location. The Ceph have probably programmed the mine to self-destruct after their override beacon has been taken, so be prepared to make a speedy escape after nabbing it. Get in, get that beacon, and get out. Those are your primary objectives. Level designed and scripted by [NuB2]Stryker. Thanks to [NuB]Arbitar, Grimloq, and Darkside Heartless for betatesting. Please feel free to use any ideas inspired by this level, but do not reproduce parts of this level without giving credit to me ([NuB2]Stryker). This level was designed for single-player or Co-op, and was mostly designed to test a couple of new ideas I've had recently. There is no real reason not to release this, so I'm going to. It's a little on the short side, but it should give some good fun. Beware of ambushes! Briefing and credits written by [NuB2]Stryker.
