*******Alpha Ceti******* -by Hostile of the Clan ROX Date of Release: December 5th, 2000 Type of Level: Single, Multiplayer Anarchy, Hyper and Team Version: 1.0 Hello Descent addicts, Here is my freshman effort for Descent 3. It is the final release. I am still a total newbie when it comes to D3Edit so my main focus was on good sound level structure, smooth lighting (not the best color coordination, but smooth), and good weapons balance. The eye candy and texture selection will come with my next level due out in March 2001. Alpha Ceti is a level I designed for Descent II which I finished, but never released because D3 came out and I lost interest. It was a originally designed as a 1 on 1 level, but I still don't truly understand the size and speed of D3 from a level building perspective so its a little bit bigger than that. However, I think it is fast enough that you could play 1 on 1 if you so desire. I owe a "huge!" thanks to the almighty level creator Otherone who spoon fed me on how to use D3Edit and helped me out of a couple jams when I really screwed things up------Thanks Brian. Thanks also to Genghis who helped me get the damn loadscreen shot even when he felt like puking :). Level stats as reported by D3Edit: 34 Rooms (Only 4 main areas though) 2110 Faces 2366 Vertices 58 Portals 2 Doors 52 Objects 4 Energy Centers There are 16 Players starts. Stealing a setting from Otherone, I also have a 1 mass driver in this level with only 4 shots to start and one mass driver reload with 1 round in it. A regular mass driver would have been over powering in this level. I also liked the mirrored energy center in Skin Like Winter so much that I had to put them in Alpha Ceti....Thanks Nirvsheep, I didn't ask so I hope that was ok :). It took me about 2 solid weeks to make this level including learning the editor and I still have a lot to learn. And, if I haven't said it before....I love you man!! I have submitted this level to and set autodownload to: http://www.d3community.com/download/missions/alphaceti.zip http://www.gameedit.com/descent3/levels/alphaceti.zip Enjoy, {ROX}Hostile aka Fritz Hostetler email: hostile@whidbey.net
