"Three Sisters" by: Sirian Completion Date: November 28, 1999 Project Designer: Sirian Editor: D3edit version 0.92 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sirian has given I "Vlider" permission to seperate his "Mano a Mano" level set. This way each level will have a better chance of getting more exposure as well as some play time on the descent3 1on1 ladder. Level extractions by : Vander --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Server Information and Recommended Settings: THIS MISSION IS *NOT* DESIGNED FOR 5 PLAYER ANARCHY!!! This mission in no way resembles #300baud Entropy or other missions released by Sirian that are lag-friendly. The Mano a Mano levels have low to minimal compartmentalization, and as such will create lag for modem players in any game of more than THREE PLAYERS. Four will be OK for many. TWO PLAYERS is the optimal game size for this mission pack. The levels are either small or wide open, making it very easy to find and engage the opponent. Because the set is intended for head to head games, the priority was put on the gameplay of the layouts without any compromises whatsoever being made to compartmentalize. FOUR PLAYERS is the *MAXIMUM* recommended game size for this mission pack. If a server is set to hold more than 4 players, it should be labeled in some way to indicate that it is intended for use by low ping players, so as to warn modem players to stay away or suffer the consequences of lag. 60 seconds is the recommended item respawn time. *Every* level has been given enough items to provide a very fast and action-packed game with a setting of 60 seconds. Players will find that these levels are generally thin on missiles, and that some primaries will be plentiful while others may take a little bit of looking and/or waiting to acquire. Learn to fight with what you have, learn to avoid engagement until you can find something good to use, and learn to rely on primaries for your kills. I've included enough secondaries on every level for them to matter in the game: if the item respawn rate is set too low, the contest will become a joke, emphasizing only the collection of items. For three or four player games, 45 seconds is recommended. 30 seconds is the minimum item respawn time for this mission pack. Anything lower, and the gameplay will suffer. Proceed at your own risk. If you are a player (as opposed to a server op who is running the game for others) then I recommend that you start your games in Peer to Peer mode. Anyone, even modem players, can run a good head to head game in Peer to Peer mode, and the game will be fairer and more entertaining than it would be with Client/Server settings, unless both players have fast internet connections. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 300baud Productions Design Team founded by Sirian and Karash Hosted by PlanetDescent at http://www.planetdescent.com Contact Us:
Sirian Legal Stuff: You may not use the levels of this mission set, nor any part of them (including rooms or fixtures) for any purpose, without the written permission from the author. You may distribute this mission set freely over any electronic medium, so long as you include this text file and all accompanying documents listed above, and so long as you do not charge any fees for access; you may not "sell" the mission as part of any for-profit venture. Appreciation: Thanks to Jim "Radman" Rogers for permission to use his awesome "Cannery" logo. Thanks to Jeff "ZappaFan" Guynn for all the encouragement and support he has given. Thanks to the Archive sites that are hosting this mission for autodownload in-game. Thanks to IDL players who played and enjoyed my original D1 1on1 levels, including but not limited to: Ender, Voyager, scream, Karash, Chipmunk, Nirvana, dramu, kufyit, LordDeath, Birdseye, IM_GOOD, Egad and everyone from the Oklahoma crew. Played many a big game with these old timers, and memories of those good times inspired me to make this mission set. Special Thanks to Chris Ledwith from Outrage Entertainment, for assisting with a variety of issues. Chris was also the primary beta tester for most of the original Descent 1 versions of these levels, before he contracted to work on D3edit.
