The original Steel Vapor was built by Luke Schneider for Outrage and it was very popular for years as an entropy level. It was the first of two levels in the Dementia set. Now I am trying to spruce it up a bit and give it some more airplay. Things changed from the original: * As a separate level it will no longer cycle to Geo Domes. * The main hallway was manually lowered, narrowed and shortened. * The two gunboys and two emd launchers were removed and replaced with two quad lasers and two super lasers. * Each base received a second energy station (for entropy) located in the middle of the level. * Some of the middle powerups have been moved to vertical side tunnels to help framerates in the main hallway. * Finally the overall mine was shrunk another 10 percent. The total length of 2030 units now is 1566 units (23% shorter). The total volume has been reduced to about 1/3 of the original. Even so, the level is still huge and can hold 8-12 players, but I hope it is more playable now. Things not changed: * The cloak and blackshark remain. * The 10 players starts are still in their original positions. * The remaining entropy bases are still in their same locations. Since some people are not familiar with the rules of entropy, here they are (pasted from the Descent3 readme.txt): ENTROPY - Entropy is a teamwork-oriented game that emphasizes both action and strategy. The object is to gain control of your opponent team's rooms while defending your own rooms. In Entropy each contested room will be either a laboratory, an energy center, or a repair zone. The number of these three types of rooms will vary by level. The object is to take over all of your enemy's laboratories, energy centers, and repair zones. You take over an opponent's room by infecting it with virus samples. These samples are created in your laboratories; to infect a room you must carry five or more samples to an opponent's room and remain still in that room for three seconds. Your repair rooms allow you to repair damaged ships on your team, and your energy centers allow you to replenish your ships' energy reserves. Entering any of your opponent's rooms will damage your ship. You are allowed to carry two virus samples for every opponent you kill without dying yourself. When you die the count is reset and you must kill more opponents in order to pick up more samples. You can destroy an opponent's virus sample by colliding with it. Virus samples are created every 20 seconds in a laboratory room. There can be only four samples in a lab room at one time, and a maximum of 16 samples in play at once for each team. Score is kept for both individual players and for teams. When a player takes over an opponent's room, he or she gets five points and his or her team gets three points. If all of an opponent's rooms are captured, the capturing team gets 10 points. If a team has no lab rooms left but does have a energy or repair center, one of the latter rooms will be converted into a lab. DwnUndr dwnundr@ripteam.com
