Level Name: Diabolic Level Designer: Stylo Direct Feedback to: Stylo@erols.com Level Editor: DMB2 Custom Textures: N/A Custom Music: N/A Build Time: 18hrs A quick paced level designed with Hoard and Flag games in mind. There are starting points for 8 players and plays well with at least 3 players. Many complaints I hear against Hoard games is that many players find it hard to score with more than one orb. One of the reasons this is because the levels are not designed for the action to flow from a common area to either of the goals. Following the apparent design philosophy at Interplay/Parallax would correct this problem. In the multiplayer levels that came with Descent2 and with the Panic series, most of the levels follow one basic design mantra. That is to either have a single room central to just about the whole mine, for the mine as a whole to lead you in circle (instead of a mine that flows end to end in line, or some combination of the two. What this produces is a tendency for the players to gravitate the action to a particular area or for the action to cycle through the mine. In either case, it almost virtually eliminates dead time in the game where there is no interaction. I try to desing my levels in the same manner. Diabolic is also design to combine a good mix of dogfighting and escape for the 2 Earth- Shakers that are in the level. This is not a 'cheese' level for a lot of easy kills. There are sharp corners great for dodging any missle, a few good hiding places for the hit and fade types, as well as some open spaces for the kimikaze-never-say-die types. I hope the level proves to be "diabolically" fun. Please tell me what you think. Thanks. Stylo :-)
